This powerful industry-standard laptop is powered by Intel Core i7 CPU with NVIDIA GPU. The video editing performance on this laptop is pretty impressive. I have used Adobe Premiere Pro to test the performance by editing a 20 minutes long video. And, not only on this laptop but on other laptops I have used the same software to test the performance.

So, the premiere pro has exported my edited 1080p video to 4K in over 23 minutes. And, while editing the video, I have kept YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook opened on Google Chrome. In addition to that, CorelDraw X7 was also opened in Parallel to edit pictures.

Despite such heavy multitasking, this laptop has managed to run everything smoothly. Although, the vents become hot and the fans' noise was not distracting.

My testing on this laptop using Adobe Premier Pro ended up with satisfactory results. The same clip was exported in over 29 minutes. I would like to add that multitasking was not satisfactory in this laptop due it its low RAM, just 8GB. Although, 8GB RAM can handle many things at a time.

I have tested this laptop in the same fashion the above laptop was tested. I found that CorelDraw X7 slightly not responding due to the lack of RAM. And, as per the heavy task, the vents found hotter. But, the fans were not distracting.

  • Display: 13.3-inch QHD display | IPS and Anti-glare technology.
  • Battery: 56Wh 3 Cell Li-ion battery
  • Weight: 2.9 Pounds (1.3 kg).

Video editing on this QHD (2560x1440 resolution) display laptop was pretty awesome. I was able to see many tiny things without scrolling on just a 13.3-inch display. The performance of Premier Pro was good. This laptop has exported the same clip in over 37 minutes, thanks to its NVIDIA GPU.

It's a bit longer than the above laptops due to its low CPU. It has a Core i5. Without testing the laptop for multitasking we cannot rank it. Hence, my tests on that revealed that Google Chrome in this case slightly freezing while the Adobe Premier Pro was exporting the video. The laptop gained the heat and also I experienced it on some of the keys. The fans were not distracting that I liked much.

This Intel Core i5 powered Lenovo laptop has exported the same clip in over 37 minutes. The time taken to export is almost the same as Lenovo Ideapad S540 (Core i5, QHD display). The important thing is that how this machine handles multi tasking?.

So, while exporting the video, both Google Chrome and CorelDraw X7 were freezing. It shows the poor ability of this laptop to handle the multitasking. And, the heat was experienced on the keys, and the fans were heard in the conference room but to be frank - the noise was not distracting.

How I have extracted these 6 laptops out of 82 Lenovo laptops of various series?

Lenovo India offers almost 82 laptops from various series like Ideapad, Legion, ThinkPad, Yoga, and many more. But, all the laptops are not for every job. For example, laptops of Ideapad, Yoga, or even ThinkPad series are not made for gaming purposes.

For gaming purposes, only Legion series laptops will be work for you. Also, Gaming laptops can export video at an extremely faster rate compared to the normal laptop. But, they are heavy in weight. So, you can't take with you all day like Ideapad, ThinkPad, Yoga, and V series laptops.

So, In this article, I have tried to find the laptop that meets the following two requirements.

  • Lightweight for better portability
  • High specs for better video editing performance

In addition to that, I have also checked that the laptop you are going to buy must be able to do multitasking smoothly. So, I have tested multitasking ability in different ways. I have opened YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter on Google Chrome with CorelDraw X7 in parallel to Adobe Premiere Pro.

The reason for the use of Google Chrome is that it is the most resource-hungry browser. And, CorelDraw X7 I have used in parallel because video editors often edit the photos in CorelDraw. So, I have checked that while the video export process is running, how the selected laptop handles multi-tasking?.

Furthermore, the laptops I have used for testing were not brand-new, they were used-laptop. I have bought them on rent to review their performance. So, despite the used-laptops, they have done their job very well.

Also, note that the Adobe Premiere Pro and a CorelDraw X7 used on this laptop were just a trial version. Because I don't need to waste over ₹80,000 just to review the performance especially when the makers are providing the same features during the trial period.

FAQs

It's a question-answer session!

Is display matter for Video Editing laptops?

Yes, the display matters definitely. You have seen that the 6 out of 7 laptops have an FHD display. FHD display stands for Full High-Definition display that displays the content on 1980x1080 resolution. There is one laptop that has a QHD display. It's the Lenovo Ideapad S540.

The QHD display shows content on 2560x1440 resolution which means you will be able to see more content without scrolling. See, the display size doesn't matter. All that matters in the display are resolution, IPS panel, and anti-glare technology.

So, a 13.3-inch QHD display shows more content than a 15.6-inch FHD display.

Comparison of the content's quantity that fits on 4K, 1080p, 720p, and 480p display. It shows that among these displays, 4K display shows higher content.

Why gaming laptop can't be used despite very high performance in video editing?

A gaming laptop can be used and there is nothing wrong to use it. But, if you are a person who travels a lot and wants to edit videos on the way then the gaming laptop is not for you. Because gaming laptops are heavy. So, you need a lightweight high-performance laptop.

If you are planning to edit videos by placing the laptop on the desk then I strongly recommend going for Gaming laptops. Because, in the same fashion, it will also fulfill your gaming needs.

Why I have selected Adobe Premiere Pro?

I will start explaining with its specs. Your machine must have the minimum of the following specs to run Adobe Premiere Pro on Windows OS. I won't talk about Mac OS because it's not supported by Lenovo laptops. And, Premier pro isn't available for Linux.

  • CPU: Intel 6th Gen processor
  • GPU: 2GB of video RAM
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Monitor resolution: 1280x800

In addition to that, the video editors are not necessarily using the Premiere Pro alone. They may be using a web browser like Google Chrome to browse the web with multiple tabs open - chances are there. Also, they may be editing the photos using any photo editor software says CorelDraw.

So, you may also be going to face a situation where you need to do all kinds of stuff in parallel. Hence, the laptop you're going to buy must be capable of such kind of multitasking.

Furthermore, the battery life of the laptops shown in this article are not measured by any tool. It is measured by continuous editing of videos to provide you the real data since my goal is to provide you the best laptop to edit video smoothly. So, for other tasks like web browsing and movies watching, your battery will survive for more hours.
