Hello, guys. Today, In this article, I am going to review the Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop in detail. In addition to that, I will also compare it with other machines to give you an idea of what to expect. So, let’s get started. But before I begin, read my dedicated article on laptop specs written in easy-to-understand language.

The Build Quality and Material

All-plastic build of Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop.

This Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop is made of all-plastic. Despite the plastic build, the overall build feels quite solid and sturdy enough. However, the build quality doesn't feel premium when compared to the similarly priced laptops of Acer and Asus. Dell's Inspiron series laptops are mostly falling on the poor side in terms of the look due to the over-classic design and mainly the type of the material.

Dimensions and Weight

The dimensions of this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop are 38 cms (15 inches) in width, 25.8 cms (10.1 inches) in depth, and 2.3 cms (0.9 inches) in height. In addition to that, I have also measured the weight using Propert’s weighing scale. The weight is

The purpose to check the laptop’s weight with its charging accessories is to give you an idea about the weight you may need to carry during traveling. When compared to other laptops, it found much lightweight.

Display Quality and Color Reproduction

Size and Quality

The 15.6-inch FHD TN display of this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop.

This Dell Inspiron 3593 is coming with a 15.6-inch Full HD TN display. And, it has a 60Hz refresh rate. The display is surrounded by an almost 10mm thick bezel which gives you a more screen-to-body ratio. Furthermore, it has a quite below-average contrast ratio - 431:1. And, this display hasn't good viewing angles due to the absence of an IPS panel.

The contrast ratio for this display is below average (1000:1). At thanalysis, we recommend the minimum 1000:1 value for it. Next, see the color gamut of the screen.

Screen Color Reproduction

I have measured the screen color gamut to measure color reproduction efficiency. For that, I have used the Spyder 5 PRO. And the SRGB, AdobeRGB, and NTSC results for this 15.6-inch IPS display are in the below image.

As shown in the above image, the color gamut for this laptop’s display is 52% of SRGB, 46% of AdobeRGB, and 45% of NTSC as produced by Spyder 5 PRO. Honestly, the color gamut result is quite poor which makes this laptop useless for professional photo and video editors. However, there are some reasons that they can use it. I will discuss it later in this article.

Display Nits at different Brightness levels

This Inspiron 3593’s display has reached just 204 Nits at 100% of screen brightness at the center of the screen as shown in the above image. So, too below an average brighter display. The average brighter display should have nits value of at least 290 to 300. The 300 nits display allows you to work in direct sunlight without having pain in your eyes.

Screen Flex

When intentionally moved the screen with fingers up and down, I found a little screen flex there. But, honestly, it wasn’t problematic for me, thanks to the solid plastic lid of the laptop. Furthermore, the hinge of this is laptop isn't 180-degree.

In addition to that, my several tries to open this machine with one finger failed. Whenever I tried, I found the laptop's base lifted up along with the display. That shows the uneven distribution of weight across the hinge.


Build Quality and Flex

The chiclet keyboard of this Inspiron 3593 laptop is made of all-plastic. When pressed the keyboard down with a fair amount of pressure with fingers, I found little flex there. But, the flex wasn't problematic and also not extended towards the palm rest area. Even, during aggressive typing, it has not distracted me.

The flat square keys which are mostly identification marks of the chiclet keyboards are made of plastic keys. It has black color with white fonts on it for both primary and secondary functions. In addition to that, the WASD part isn’t highlighted here, which isn’t even required since this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop is not a gaming machine.

The keyboard has a white zonal backlit of 3-level. It's capable enough to illuminate the secondary functions of keys also.

Overall, in terms of backlit, I found the Chiclet keyboard of this laptop quite better than Mi Notebook 14 Horizon’s Scissor mechanism. Also, Mi has not put the backlit on it. So, not incredible but not bad even, just a little above an average to get the job done.

Typing Experience

While typing on the keyboard, the keys were traveling an average of 1.5mm of distance down. At thanalysis, we recommend at least 1.5mm of travel for keys for tactile feedback. However, I found the feedback inconsistent. Also, despite 1.5mm of key travel, I found it's not tactile.

On 10FastFingers.com, I achieved 81 words per minute (WPM) speed while my speed on Macbook Pro 16-inch is 101 WPM. However, the keys are a little bit noisy but you will find them considerably silent when compared to the mechanical keyboards.

Furthermore, unlike many Acer and Asus laptops, Dell has placed the power button outside of the keyboard's range. That actually eliminates most of the possibilities of the accidental wrong press of the power button.

Small and Very Closely Placed 4 Arrow Keys

The 4 arrow keys are smaller in size and also very closely placed. For a minute, it might not be problematic for you to press the Left and Right-Arrow keys. But, the Up and Down-arrow keys due to their small size and close placement. But, I would like to thank Dell because of not placing the Page Up/Down keys just above the Left and Right side arrow keys - which you'll find usual with most of the 14-inch size laptops.


4.1-inch wider smooth and responsive plastic touchpad of this Dell laptop.

The 4.1-inch wider touchpad has a plastic surface. It is smooth and responsive. But, I found it a little bit inaccurate especially while engaging with zoom and rotate gestures. Other gestures like 3-finger and 4-finger worked well during my tests. In addition to that, at the price of ₹68,000, we expect the laptop to have a touchpad that supports Windows Precision drivers.

But, this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop lacks it. Furthermore, it doesn't click down anywhere. It has two integrated buttons placed at the bottom of the touchpad to register single and double clicks. While pressing one of those buttons, the touchpad bends a little bit downside. But, the rest of the part feels pretty sturdy. Also, note that the click sound is audible in the conference room.

Fingerprints on the Smooth Surface

Fingerprints do show up on the textured plastic surface of this laptop. But, I found it easy to clean using a micro-fiber cloth. In addition to that, unlike Alienware m15 R2 gaming laptop, I found no change in surface color over the use. In Alienware’s white version, I found it was getting slightly yellowish at some of the parts.


To give you an extra level of smooth multitasking, Dell has equipped 8GB of 2666MHz DDR4 RAM. And, it is upgradeable up to 16GB. However, the RAM is the single-channel which is less powerful than the dual-channel. To be frank, in terms of smooth multitasking, Acer Swift 3 SF314-57G laptop will be fantastic because it has 8GB of dual-channel RAM.

Processor and Graphics

An Intel Core i5-1035G1 CPU and NVIDIA MX230 GPU is powering this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop's performance. In addition to that, Dell has equipped 256GB of PCIe SSD storage in addition to 1TB of the hard disk. So, the SSD is going to boost your laptop's speed at lightning speed.

So, let’s check some of the benchmarks to see where this laptop stands in terms of specs.

Cinebench R20 Score

Here, I took 3 runs of Cinebench on this laptop and shown the average of it. Cinebench is a tool to measure the single and multi-core scores of the CPU. In this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop, I can do CPU undervolting to see the improved performance.

As you can see in the above image, I got 401 single-core and 1351 multi-core scores without a cooling pad. And, the same results were obtained with the use of a cooling pad for an average of 3 runs. But, the situation has a little bit changed for multi-core score with 0.15v CPU undervolting. Again, the single-core score remained the same here.

So, it'll be worthless if you buy a cooling pad for this laptop just to increase the performance. Now, the question that remains here is what these Cinebench R20 scores tell?

First of all, During the testing, Cinebench R20 puts an excessive load on the CPU to execute the tasks. By doing so, it will check the machine’s cooling solution also which other tool doesn’t except for 3DMark. So, when the CPU comes under a heavy load, thermal throttling takes place in the processor and it reduces the performance.

For example, If your CPU has a max clock speed of 4.5GHz, then you will reach 4.1GHz max during gaming or stress tests. The reason for not picking up the limit is thermal throttling. So, If the Cinebench R20 score of the laptop is high means the laptop has a high powerful CPU with better thermal management. Now, let’s check Geekbench benchmarks.

When tested this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop using Geekbench 5, I found this laptop has scored 1078 for single-core and 3386 for multi-core. Now, what does this score tell?

It tells the performance of the laptop. The higher the score, the higher the performance. Here, you have to consider the multi-core score. Look, Geekbench doesn’t put an excessive load on the CPU like Cinebench R20. And, Geekbench considers mainly productivity tasks like emailing, browsing, multitasking, and etc to evaluate the hardware.

And, such ways cannot give you an idea about the cooling solution. Because tiny tasks don’t make much weight on the CPU. Hence, If the laptop has a higher Geekbench multi-core score means its capability for productivity is much better. But, at the same time, information about thermal throttling and the cooling solution will remain unanswered by this tool.

Hence, for gamers and programmers, Geekbench isn’t a tool to evaluate the laptop. It’s better to consider Cinebench here. And, for normal users or office users, this one seems to be getting the job done.

Average CPU & GPU Clock Speed

To check the CPU clock speeds, I have used the AIDA64 tool.

In a stress test at an auto fan without a cooling pad, the CPU and GPU clock speeds were 2471MHz and 1521MHz, respectively. The same test with a cooling pad has raised the CPU speed by 7MHz and kept GPU clock speed the same. So, no noticeable change was observed.

But, with 0.15v CPU UV, the CPU clock speed has raised to 2717MHz and GPU to 1538MHz. It clearly indicates that the use of a cooling pad for this laptop is useless. But, I found CPU undervolting helpful for this laptop. So, again, like in Cinebench scores, the use of the cooling pad is found unworthy for this Dell Inspiron 3593 to increase the CPU and GPU clock speeds.

Furthermore, this Dell Inspiron 3593 isn't a dedicated gaming laptop. So, the measurement of TDP won't be helpful here. Hence, I have skipped that test. For dedicated gaming laptops, I always conduct that test. Next, let's check its video editing performance.

Video Editing Performance

The video editing performance of this laptop was tested in two ways.

  • Average of the video export time
  • Multitasking during video export

Average of the video export time

In this test, I have exported the 16 minutes and 13 seconds long video on YouTube 4K H.264 preset using Adobe Premier CC. And I have repeated the same test 4 times further to show you the average result.

So, during my test of video export in 4K preset, this Dell Inspiron 3593 has ended up in on average 24 minutes and 44 seconds. That’s too much.

Multitasking during video export

The motive to conduct this test wasn’t other than to rate the smoothness of this laptop when the CPU is busy with intense work. I have checked the following during the video export, the touchpad, keyboard, and laptop’s response time. But, I found this laptop below-average smooth almost all-time during video export.

Thermal Performance

This test was performed to tell you whether the CPU undervolting and cooling pad are efficient in temperature reduction with stable or increased performance. For the stress test, I have used the AIDA64 tool. So, the results are in the below image.

At idle at an auto fan, the CPU and GPU temperatures were 49 and 48 degrees C, respectively.

During the stress test with an auto fan, both CPU and GPU temperatures were raised to 78 and 71 degrees C, respectively. The same test with cooling pad has surprisingly reduced the CPU temperature to 75.1 degrees C and GPU to 69 degrees C. And, with 0.15v CPU undervolting has reduced CPU temperature to further 72.7 degrees C, but NVIDIA GPU was found same.

So, the CPU undervolting is found to be worthy in this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop. However, the cooling pad also contributed to the reduction in the temperature. Hence, buying the cooling pad is worthy for this laptop in terms of temperature reduction only.

Laptop’s Exterior Temperature

At idle at an auto fan, the exterior was near to mid 30 C – a pretty cool.

During the stress test at the auto fan, the palm rest was found cool to touch. The middle of the keyboard was at mid 40 C. The sides of the middle of the keyboard were found less hot compared to it. The exterior above the function keys was a bit hotter to touch. Furthermore, there was no difference between the QWERTY part and other keys in terms of temperature.

During the same test with a cooling pad, I found nearly similar results that I have got without it except for the right part of the keyboard. It was a little less hot to touch.

Fans Noise Emission

The noise emission by the fan of this Dell laptop during stress test and idle mode.

At idle, the fan of this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop has emitted 34.7dB of noise which is not even heard. During the stress test at an auto fan, the level was increased to 47.8dB.

In addition to that, the gaming laptops like Lenovo Legion 7iDell Alienware m15 R2MSI GS65 Stealth-004, and like have more noisy fans than this one. the noise level during gaming at performance mode increases to 60dB. And, that’s become equal to the noise emitted by a washing machine, hairdryer, and electric toothbrush. But, such a scenario is not the case with this laptop.

Camera and Microphone

It's mostly awkward in the Dell's Inspiron series laptops that camera, mostly, found below-average. Also, consider the microphone too. At thanalysis, we test both of them outdoor to show you the real-world picture. What I found during my testing is mostly disappointed me. Both the 720p camera and a microphone are placed at the top bezel of this Inspiron 3593 laptop.

The camera was captured a lot of noise, the same for the microphone. I would rate both of them 3 out of 10. It's acceptable that laptops don't have a high-quality camera like smartphones. But, at least, it should be of average-quality. With disappointing camera quality, I cannot expect Windows Hello support here.


The 2 down-firing speakers are placed at the front side underneath the laptop. They are below average at maximum volume and a bit tiny with a little bass present. In addition to that, while watching the YouTube video, Digitech’s sound level meter has measured the sound. The sound level was 78dB and changing around it.

Well, Dell has not equipped anything on the back except for air exhausts on this Inspiron 3593 laptop.

Air Intake Vents

On the back cover, you'll find the belt of air intake vents of almost 4.5-inch in length and 1.5-inch in width. These air intake vents have found to be a critical part when I have tested the laptop with a cooling pad for possible temperature reduction during the CPU and GPU stress test.


Battery life the 42-Wh battery of this laptop during YouTube watching and the stress test using AIDA64 too.

Honestly, this laptop didn’t get a long-lasting battery for the processor-intensive tasks like video exporting, small-level gaming, and like. The 42Wh battery is powering this Dell Inspiron 14 3593 laptop. And, it has lasted for 1 hour and 16 minutes during continuous stress tests using AIDA64. And, 6 hours and 11 minutes on YouTube Watching at 50% of screen brightness, keyboard backlighting turned off, and background apps disabled.


This laptop is been equipped with a 256GB of PCIe-based solid-state storage in addition to 1TB of a hard disk to provide a possible high performance. I have used the CrystalDiskMark tool to test its (SSD) speed. And the results are below.

As you can see in the above image, the 256GB of SSD storage is fast enough. The reading speed for SSD storage is 1854MB/sec and 1248MB/sec for writing. However, it's not in the competition when compared to other Acer and Asus laptops of a similar price range. The above figure consists of many technical terms like 4K, Seq, and the like. Final Thoughts

The Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop gives high performance undoubtedly, but it has something more that disappointed me. An Intel Core i5 CPU and NVIDIA MX230 GPU is powering the performance of this laptop. So, you can do android/web/desktop programming on it except for machine learning. In addition to that, you can also edit photos and videos, thanks to the dedicated NVIDIA GPU. But, in the cons side, the 15.6-inch display has no IPS panel, due to which it gives bad viewing angles. Furthermore, with 204 Nits, it creates pain in the eye while working outdoors in direct sunlight. In addition to that, the poor colour gamut values make this laptop unworthy for colour-accurate photo & video editing. But, this laptop is found overall smooth, and I appreciate its cooling system which has prevented this laptop from crossing the 80 degrees Celsius temperature. The absence of a thunderbolt port and a Wi-Fi 6 disappointed me, but I found this laptop fine for the college students. In addition to that, due to its heavyweight, it's not a great machine for those who travel a lot. Overall, I rated this Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop 36.20 out of 100.


Should I buy this laptop?

This Dell Inspiron 3593 laptop is for office uses only. It's neither a gaming machine nor a high-specs laptop. However, to use for office purposes like a business while travelling can be a little bit of headache due to its weight. It has NVIDIA's MX230 GPU which can handle the tasks like video editing, photo editing - in terms of performance. So, you should buy this laptop if you're a student or a professional who don't travel a lot else should only buy if a die-hard fan of Dell.

Is this laptop good?

Yes, this machine is good for college students as they don't require a high-specs laptop. But, again, the weight factor plays a major role since the life of students is almost the same as the traveller. So, this one fine if you ignore the weight. However, the students or professional who are connected to the project that involves machine learning, then this one not good for them.

Can I add HDD/SDD to this laptop?

Yes, you can do so on this laptop.

Is this laptop good for video editing?

In terms of performance, Yes. In terms of colour-accurate editing, No. As this laptop's display falls under 52% of SRGB, 46% of AdobeRGB, and 45% of NTSC, you will get very poor colour reproduction.

Can I play Games on it?

Yes, you can play games on it, thanks to NVIDIA MX230 GPU with 2GB of memory. As mentioned above in this article, I have played several PC games. But, I would like to mention a poor performance here.

Is this laptop upgradable?

Yes, the laptop RAM is upgradable to a maximum of 16GB. In addition to that, hard disk and SSDs are also eligible for an upgrade.

Is Dell good and reliable laptop manufacturing company?

Yes, Dell is known to be so good for its product and its customer service. Dell laptops are, although less premium compared its price, but does offer quite long life. And, Dell's customer service has rated 68 out of 100 by LaptopMag, which makes it trustworthy.
